Day 1: Casablanca – Rabat – Meknes – Fes
7 days Casablanca Morocco Desert tour departure: Your adventure begins in Casablanca with a visit to the famous Hassan II Mosque, one of the largest mosques in the world. After exploring Casablanca, we’ll drive to the capital city of Rabat, where you can visit the Royal Palace, Hassan Tower, and the Mausoleum of Mohammed V.
From Rabat, we’ll continue to Meknes, a historic imperial city, to explore its landmarks such as Bab Mansour Gate and Heri es-Souani granaries. Finally, we’ll head to Fes for an overnight stay in a traditional riad.
Day 2: Fes Guided Tour
Spend the day discovering the cultural and historical treasures of Fes, Morocco’s spiritual capital. With a local guide, you’ll visit the Al Quaraouiyine University, the oldest university in the world, and the stunning Al-Attarine Madrasa. Explore the bustling souks of the Medina, visit the Bou Inania Madrasa, and see the famous Chouara Tannery. After a full day of exploration, return to your riad for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Fes – Ifrane – Cedar Forest – Midelt – Merzouga (Erg Chebbi Dunes)
After breakfast, depart Fes and travel through the Middle Atlas Mountains, stopping at Ifrane, known as the “Switzerland of Morocco,” and the Cedar Forest near Azrou to see Barbary macaques. Continue through scenic landscapes and Berber villages to Midelt for lunch.
In the afternoon, drive through the Ziz Valley, with its palm groves and stunning gorges, before arriving in Merzouga, at the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes. After dinner, relax in your desert riad or hotel.
Day 4: Merzouga – Camel Trek – Desert Camp
Start your day with breakfast and spend time exploring the desert surroundings. Visit the village of Khamlia, famous for its Gnawa music, and a nomadic Berber camp to learn about their traditional lifestyle. Enjoy optional activities like sandboarding or quad biking in the dunes.
In the late afternoon, embark on a camel trek into the desert, watching the sunset over the golden sands. Arrive at your desert camp, where you’ll enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner, Berber music, and stargazing. Overnight in a standard or luxury desert camp.
Day 5: Merzouga – Rissani – Todra Gorge – Dades Valley
Wake up early to witness a magical sunrise over the dunes, followed by breakfast at the camp. Return to Merzouga by camel or 4×4 and travel to the bustling town of Rissani, known for its vibrant souks and historical significance. Continue to the dramatic Todra Gorge, where you can take a short walk through the towering cliffs.
In the afternoon, journey to the picturesque Dades Valley, passing traditional kasbahs and Berber villages. Overnight in a guesthouse or hotel in the Dades Valley with dinner included.
Day 6: Dades Valley – Valley of Roses – Ouarzazate – Aït Benhaddou – Marrakech
After breakfast, drive through the beautiful Dades Valley and the fragrant Valley of Roses, known for its annual rose festival. Arrive in Ouarzazate, where you can visit the Taourirt Kasbah or the Atlas Film Studios.
Continue to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Aït Benhaddou, a historic ksar known for its mudbrick architecture and as a backdrop for many films. After lunch, cross the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, arriving in Marrakech in the evening. Overnight in a riad.
Day 7: Marrakech Guided Tour
Spend the day exploring the vibrant city of Marrakech with a local guide. Visit the iconic Koutoubia Mosque, the Bahia Palace, and the Saadian Tombs. Explore the bustling souks of the Medina, where you can shop for handicrafts, spices, and souvenirs. Don’t miss the vibrant Jemaa el-Fnaa Square, where performers, food stalls, and artisans create an unforgettable atmosphere. After your tour, transfer to your accommodation or departure point.
