Day 1: Fes – Ifrane – Cedar Forest – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Merzouga

4 days Fes Desert Tour departure: We’ll begin our journey from Fes, heading south through the scenic Middle Atlas Mountains. Our first stop is the charming town of Ifrane, often called the “Switzerland of Morocco” due to its alpine-style architecture and pristine surroundings. Next, we’ll visit the Cedar Forest near Azrou, where you’ll have the chance to see Barbary macaque monkeys.

Continue through Berber villages and arrive in Midelt for lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy the dramatic landscapes of the Ziz Valley, with its lush palm groves and desert scenery, before reaching Merzouga at the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes. Check into your desert riad or hotel, enjoy dinner, and relax before your desert adventure begins.

Day 2: Merzouga Desert Exploration

After breakfast, we’ll explore the fascinating Merzouga region. Visit the village of Khamlia, home to Gnawa musicians, and enjoy a performance showcasing their unique musical traditions. You’ll also discover traditional Berber nomad camps and learn about their lifestyle.

In the afternoon, embark on an exciting camel trek into the Erg Chebbi dunes as the sun sets, painting the desert in golden hues. Arrive at your desert camp, where you’ll enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner, live Berber music, and the chance to stargaze under the clear desert sky. Overnight in a standard or luxury desert camp.

Day 3: Merzouga – Rissani – Ziz Valley – Midelt

Wake up early to witness a magical sunrise over the dunes, followed by breakfast at the camp. Return to Merzouga on camelback or by 4×4, and then visit the nearby town of Rissani, a historic trading center known for its lively souks and ancient kasbahs.

After exploring Rissani, we’ll retrace our route through the Ziz Valley, stopping for photos and lunch. Arrive in the peaceful mountain town of Midelt, where you’ll enjoy dinner and an overnight stay in a comfortable hotel or guesthouse.

Day 4: Midelt – Cedar Forest – Ifrane – Fes

After breakfast, we’ll continue our journey through the Middle Atlas Mountains. Stop in the Cedar Forest near Azrou to see Barbary macaques in their natural habitat. Then, visit Ifrane, a picturesque town with well-manicured gardens and a unique European-style charm.

Enjoy lunch en route before returning to Fes in the late afternoon, where your desert tour concludes.
