Day 1: Marrakech – High Atlas Mountains – Aït Benhaddou – Dades Valley

we depart our 5-Day Marrakech to Fes Desert Tour in the morning, then head to the scenic High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260m). Admire panoramic views of Berber villages and stop at the UNESCO-listed Aït Benhaddou, a historic ksar known for its mudbrick architecture. After lunch, continue to Ouarzazate, where you can explore the Taourirt Kasbah or simply enjoy the surrounding landscapes. Drive through the Valley of Roses and the Dades Valley, where you’ll stay overnight in a cozy guesthouse. Dinner included.

Day 2: Dades Valley – Todra Gorge – Merzouga Desert (Erg Chebbi Dunes)

After breakfast, explore the unique rock formations of the Dades Gorges before continuing your journey through Berber villages toward the Todra Gorge. Take a walk through this spectacular canyon with its towering limestone cliffs. Travel to Merzouga in the afternoon, passing scenic desert landscapes and palm groves. Upon arrival at the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes, enjoy a camel trek as the sun sets over the golden sands. Spend the night in a traditional desert camp, where you’ll enjoy a Moroccan dinner, Berber music, and stargazing.

Day 3: Merzouga – Khamlia – Rissani – Erg Chebbi Exploration

Start your day with a sunrise over the dunes, followed by breakfast at the camp. Return to Merzouga by camel and explore the surrounding region. Visit the village of Khamlia, known for its Gnawa music and cultural heritage. Continue to Rissani, a historic trading town with bustling souks and traditional markets. Spend the afternoon exploring the vast dunes of Erg Chebbi, with optional activities like sandboarding or quad biking. Return to your desert camp or a nearby hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Merzouga – Ziz Valley – Midelt

After breakfast, depart Merzouga and travel through the Ziz Valley, a lush oasis lined with palm trees and dotted with ancient kasbahs. Pass through small Berber towns and enjoy the scenic mountain views as you continue toward Midelt, a town nestled between the Middle and High Atlas Mountains. Relax at your hotel or guesthouse for the evening, where dinner will be served.

Day 5: Midelt – Cedar Forest – Ifrane – Fes

After breakfast, travel through the Middle Atlas Mountains, stopping at the Cedar Forest near Azrou to see Barbary macaque monkeys in their natural habitat. Continue to Ifrane, often called the “Switzerland of Morocco” for its alpine-style architecture and well-manicured gardens. Enjoy a short visit before heading to Fes, where your tour concludes in the late afternoon.
