Tangier to Marrakech desert tour 5 days itinerary
Day 1: Tangier – Chefchaouen – Fes
5-day Tangier to Marrakech desert tour. We begin in Tangier, traveling through the stunning Rif Mountains to reach Chefchaouen, the famous “Blue City.” Take a relaxing stroll through its medina, filled with blue-washed buildings, lively squares, and artisan shops.
After exploring Chefchaouen, we continue to Fes, Morocco’s cultural capital. You’ll enjoy dinner and spend the night in a traditional riad.
Day 2: Fes – Ifrane – Cedar Forest – Midelt – Merzouga (Erg Chebbi Dunes)
After breakfast, we leave Fes and head into the Middle Atlas Mountains. We stop in Ifrane, often called the “Switzerland of Morocco,” and visit the Cedar Forest near Azrou to spot Barbary macaques.
Next, we journey through Midelt, stopping for lunch, and drive along the scenic Ziz Valley, known for its palm groves and gorges. We reach Merzouga, on the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes, where you’ll have dinner and an overnight stay in a desert riad or hotel.
Day 3: Merzouga – Camel Trek – Desert Camp
Today, we explore the Merzouga region. Visit Khamlia, a village famous for its Gnawa music, and learn about Berber nomadic life. You can also try sandboarding, quad biking, or a 4×4 tour.
In the afternoon, join us for a camel trek into the Erg Chebbi dunes. As the sun sets over the golden sands, we’ll arrive at our desert camp. Enjoy a Moroccan dinner, Berber drumming, and a night under the stars. Overnight in a standard or luxury camp.
Day 4: Merzouga – Todra Gorge – Dades Valley
Wake early to watch the sunrise over the dunes, followed by breakfast. Return to Merzouga by camel or 4×4, then travel to the stunning Todra Gorge. Walk through the gorge and admire its dramatic cliffs and river views.
In the afternoon, we pass through Berber villages to reach the Dades Valley, known as the “Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs.” You’ll enjoy dinner and stay overnight in a guesthouse or hotel overlooking the valley.
