4-Day Tour from Fes to Marrakech itinerary
Day 1: Fes – Ifrane – Cedar Forest – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Merzouga (Erg Chebbi Dunes)
We’ll begin our journey early in the morning, leaving Fes and heading south through the Middle Atlas Mountains. Our first stop is Ifrane, known as the “Switzerland of Morocco” for its alpine charm. From there, we’ll visit the Cedar Forest near Azrou, home to Barbary macaque monkeys. Continue through scenic mountain roads and Berber villages to Midelt, where we’ll stop for lunch.
In the afternoon, pass through the stunning Ziz Valley, famous for its lush palm groves and dramatic gorges. Arrive at Merzouga, where you’ll settle into your riad or hotel near the Erg Chebbi dunes. Enjoy dinner and prepare for the exciting desert experiences ahead.
Day 2: Merzouga – Erg Chebbi Dunes – Desert Camp
After breakfast, we’ll explore the fascinating region surrounding Merzouga. Visit the village of Khamlia, renowned for its traditional Gnawa music, and learn about Berber culture. You’ll also discover nomadic Berber camps and marvel at the vast desert landscapes.
In the late afternoon, embark on a camel trek into the Erg Chebbi dunes, watching as the sun sets over the golden sands. Arrive at your desert camp, where you’ll enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner, live Berber music, and stargazing under the expansive night sky. Overnight in a comfortable desert camp (luxury or standard).
Day 3: Merzouga – Todra Gorge – Dades Valley
Rise early to witness the magical sunrise over the dunes, followed by breakfast at the camp. Return to Merzouga on camels or by 4×4, then travel to the breathtaking Todra Gorge, where towering limestone cliffs create one of Morocco’s most dramatic landscapes. Take a short walk through the gorge to admire its beauty.
Continue through picturesque Berber villages and arrive at the Dades Valley, known as the “Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs.” Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at a charming guesthouse or hotel overlooking the valley.
Day 4: Dades Valley – Ouarzazate – Aït Benhaddou – High Atlas Mountains – Marrakech
After breakfast, drive through the scenic Dades Valley and the Valley of Roses, famous for its fragrant rose products. Arrive in Ouarzazate, the “Hollywood of Morocco,” where you can visit the Taourirt Kasbah or the famous Atlas Film Studios.
Next, explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Aït Benhaddou, a historic ksar known for its traditional mudbrick architecture. After lunch, cross the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, stopping for photos along the way. Arrive in Marrakech in the late afternoon or early evening, where your desert adventure concludes.
