Day 1: Fes – Ifrane – Cedar Forest – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Merzouga

We’ll depart from Fes in the morning, heading south through the stunning Middle Atlas Mountains. Our first stop is Ifrane, often referred to as the “Switzerland of Morocco,” known for its European-style architecture and scenic beauty. From there, we’ll continue to the Cedar Forest near Azrou, where you can see Barbary macaque monkeys in their natural habitat.

Travel through the beautiful landscapes of Berber villages and arrive in Midelt, where we’ll stop for lunch. In the afternoon, we’ll drive through the breathtaking Ziz Valley, known for its lush palm groves and dramatic views, before arriving at Merzouga at the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes. After checking into your accommodation, you’ll enjoy dinner and relax in a comfortable desert riad or hotel.

Day 2: Merzouga Desert Exploration

Begin the day with breakfast before exploring the wonders of the Merzouga region. Visit the village of Khamlia, known for its Gnawa music and culture, and learn about this desert community’s traditional way of life. Explore the vast Erg Chebbi dunes with optional activities such as sandboarding, quad biking, or a 4×4 tour.

In the late afternoon, embark on a magical camel trek into the golden dunes, where you’ll witness the breathtaking sunset over the Sahara. Arrive at a traditional desert camp, where you’ll enjoy a delicious Moroccan dinner, Berber music, and stargazing under the clear desert sky. Overnight in a comfortable desert camp (standard or luxury, based on preference).

Day 3: Merzouga – Rissani – Ziz Valley – Midelt – Fes

Wake up early to experience a spectacular sunrise over the dunes, followed by breakfast at the camp. Return to Merzouga by camel or 4×4, and then begin the journey back to Fes. On the way, we’ll visit Rissani, a historic town and former trading hub, where you can explore the bustling souks and learn about the town’s significance in Moroccan history.

Retrace your route through the Ziz Valley, stopping for photos and a leisurely lunch in Midelt. We’ll continue through the Middle Atlas Mountains, with scenic stops, before arriving in Fes in the early evening, where your desert adventure concludes.
